As we said on the first page, meeting people in DC can be really hard. There are social mixers all over the city and probably way too many of us have tried speed dating. We just don't feel that they give adequate opportunity and circumstance to actually connect with another human. That is what we aim to provide. Aside from that it will be a beautiful Friday in the middle of spring with a chance to meet over 30 new friends and maybe a special someone.

The event starts with about a 30-45 minute "Happy Hour". Solly's runs happy hour specials until 8:00 PM. During that time there may be simple mixing activities, as well as just a chance to meet some of the people you will be playing with. After that, each person will provide a list of 5 people that he/she would like to play a 5 question round of trivia with. There will be 5 rounds total. The hosts will organize the choices in such a way that each person is guaranteed 3 of his/her picks. Each round will be played with a team of 4 people; 2 ladies and 2 gentlemen. The scoring system will be explained at the event. Each round will last around 10 minutes. The winning team from each round will receive a small prize. Free drinks, tater tots, or anything else that we can come up with! At the end of the event if you did meet somebody you would like to communicate with further you can submit their name to the hosts and if they submit yours you will be contacted and their contact info will be provided to you. However, we encourage people to not see this as entirely a dating event. We hope that you are just as likely to meet a friend as a find a date.

After the brief "Happy Hour" you will submit a list of 5 people you would like to play a short round of trivia with. The hosts will run a computer program that will guarantee you 3 of your top 5 picks. All of the selections will be kept confidential.

Absolutely not. At this event you don't have to do anything you don't want to do. The event will be dictated by the people attending, not our agenda or a stop watch. We can, and are happy, to randomly assign you.

No. The event will be capped at 20 people of each gender. If there is less than that we will issue rain checks to ensure that there is even numbers.

The fee is mainly to make sure that people are committed to coming. In addition it will pay for prizes and light fare at the event.

We are mainly looking to attract the "twenty-somethings" and "thirty-somethings". If we had to put a number on it, it would be 25-35. To conceptualize, north of hitting beer bongs but south of looking at houses in Florida. Seriously, it's cliche but age is a state of mind. If you come looking to have a good time and meet new, interesting people then you are in the right age bracket.

The hosts have been writing questions for the Trivia Night at Solly's for about a year. We will put effort into providing questions that either spark conversation or might reveal basic facts about the people on a given team. Mainly though, it will be general trivia questions.
